Venues

Happy Saturday! Tomorrow we're leaving for Key West. We will be staying at Ambrosia Key West Bed & Breakfast and investigating it as a wedding venue! They offer a reasonably priced wedding package and their facility looks great from the pictures.

We're looking for a beach destination that's still domestic as my fiance has some family members who don't have passports and we don't want that to be a reason they can't make it to our wedding. We're having a very small wedding and only inviting immediate family and grandparents so we want to do everything we can to make sure everyone can make it.

Weddinspiration!

I'm not 100% sold on having a bouquet made of fresh flowers when I get married. It seems like a lot of money to spend on flowers that won't last and I have seen some alternatives that look fun!

The first example of a non-floral bouquet I have for you is the Brooch Bouquet! This bouquet has bling and color and it will never fade or die. These are one of a kind and can come in any color combination!

Weddinspiration!

This is a shot from a steampunk wedding. Would I do a steampunk theme for my wedding? No, but I can seriously appreciate the eye candy this shot presents! I love how her flowers look against her dress, the colors are fantastic!

Weddinspiration!

Pale pink dress, bright pink hair! Gotta love it.

Weddinspiration!

I LOVE what this couple did with their wedding:

There is nothing I don't like about this wedding. Love the short dress on the bride with the great red shoe! The red dresses with turquoise petticoat on the bridesmaids is super cute, great continuation of theme in the red and turquoise hair extensions on the bride.

I love experimenting with color and pattern and that will definitely carry over into my wedding!
Got some wedding books! These were both rated pretty high on Amazon so I decided to go for it. There is a TON of information in these books! I originally signed up on theknot.com and felt a tad overwhelmed by everything on there, the time lines, the to-do lists. It's enough to make a gal want to elope!

My fiance would be thrilled if we decided to elope, and I do not want a huge, formal wedding and reception. I've actually been getting some great inspiration from offbeatbride.com, it's lovely to see what other ladies have been doing while treading off the beaten path.

When are you getting married?

I am hearing this question quite frequently, as I'm sure most newly engaged folks do! The answer is spring of 2014.

Why so far in the future, you ask? Well, planning a wedding is a huge, expensive and stressful endeavor and I want some time to enjoy being engaged before I have to start planning this shindig! Two years may seem like a long time, but at this point planning a spring wedding for 2013 is just not enough time for me to save up enough dough to buy my dress and plan all the details.

I want to take my time and plan a perfect wedding... or as close to perfect as I can get!
